Wendt & Kühn has stood for fine German craftsmanship in its most beautiful form since 1915.
Company founder Grete Wendt (1887-1979) and designer Olly Wendt (1896-1991), both graduates of the Royal Saxon School of Applied Art in Dresden, created a wealth of unique wooden figurines and music boxes. To this day, the myriad sketches and designs still form the foundation of the product range, the brand and its success. The brightly colored figurines and music boxes from the traditional, family-run workshops of Wendt & Kühn are exclusive and contemporary. Today, the figurines are crafted meticulously by hand in the workshops in Grünhainichen, just as they have been for over 100 years. The Grünhainichen Angels® with their characteristic eleven white dots on their green wings have made the traditional brand of Wendt & Kühn famous throughout the world.
If we had to guess what song the girl in the pretty pink dress has on the tip of her tongue, the German children’s song about a gathering of birds, “Alle Vögel sind schon da”, would be the perfect musical accompaniment for this composition. Five little birds have perched on the green hoop. The birds all vary in size and have different colored plumage. You will be astonished to learn that this figurine comprises more than 40 individual components.
Blue wings, knee-length robes and blond hair – these are the characteristics of our heavenly Angels wearing Crowns. They get their name from the golden crown that adorns their head. Olly Wendt (née Sommer), the creative designer who worked alongside Grete Wendt, had already designed these graceful yet childlike and joyful group of figurines pre-1937. After almost 80 years, this six-centimeter-high trio are finally returning to the collection in May 2019.
They are unique. With their shape, their expression and their charm they enchant: The Grünhainichen Angels® from Wendt & Kühn. On each of their green wings, they bear eleven white dots - their world-famous hallmark.
A double musical delight: Since concertinas come in a range of different colors, our Angel has a choice of two different colored instruments – each designed to coordinate with the color of its hair, blond or dark.

The Companion, Wendt & Kühn’s eagerly anticipated Gold Edition No. 12, will be joining the collection of this traditional manufactory on July 1, 2019. Holding his costly gold pocket watch firmly in his hand he is able to slow down time, just a little. Calmly he accompanies us through many a hectic day and reminds us to make time for the really important things – a guide to escort us through time, and to guard those treasured moments.
His pocket watch is plated with 24-karat gold, as is the metal base on which the figurine stands. A strictly limited edition, he will be able to bring joy only 22,222 times. The individual serial number is printed on the underside of each figurine, on the base of its attractive splinter box, and also in the lovingly designed leaflet that accompanies it. This makes every angel a valuable and unique piece.
The Companion is also available on a grey base – not as a limited edition.
